April 7          Have Jesus with You

John 12:1-8 12:1 Six days before the Passover Jesus came to Bethany, the home of Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. 12:2 There they gave a dinner for him. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those at the table with him.  Mary took a pound of costly perfume made of pure nard, anointed Jesus' feet, and wiped them with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.   But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (the one who was about to betray him), said, "Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and the money given to the poor?"  (He said this not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief; he kept the common purse and used to steal what was put into it.) Jesus said, "Leave her alone. She bought it so that she might keep it for the day of my burial. You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me."   I will focus on what Jesus means when he says, in the context of Mary placing perfume on his feet, that she bought it to prepare for his burial.

April 14  The Stones Would Shout
Luke 19:28-40 This is the “Triumphal Entry” story.  What does Jesus mean when he is told to silence his                    followers and says that if they are silent, “the stones would cry out”? My central point will be the reality                  that Jesus is the very best look at God that we have.
April 21 (Easter)   How Do We Witness to the Resurrection of Jesus? Luke 24:1-12

April 28  The Holy Spirit Given to Those Who Obey
Acts 5:27-32  When they had brought them, they had them stand before the council. The high priest questioned them, saying, "We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name, yet here you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and you are determined to bring this man's blood on us." But Peter and the apostles answered, "We must obey God rather than any human authority. The God of our ancestors raised up Jesus, whom you had killed by hanging him on a tree.  God exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior that he might give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.  And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him."

I will focus on how the Holy Spirit works in our lives to give us Courage, Assurance, and Peace.
